We’ve been talking with Zaine McKenzie for the last couple of weeks and we are sad to share that he will be leaving All In Black MK Lightning today. He joined us at the start of the season and made 23 league appearances picking up a goal along the way. He also made his international debut at U20s level.
We have been very happy with Zaine’s progress and attitude with us and are sad to be losing him. Zaine went to Cliff a couple of weeks ago to talk about his development and we have been working with him over that time to help him with his decision.
During our discussions Zaine has been hugely complimentary about the club, our Supporters Club and our amazing fan base and we are very grateful for all his efforts over the course of this season.
Zaine said this: “Thank you to everyone at MK, from the fans to the staff, to my teammates. I wish the whole organisation success in the second half of the season . It’s sad to leave, however development wise I need to make this move. I have loved every single minute at MK and there’s so many people to thank for that. So thank you MK, you will be missed.”
AIB MKL Head Coach Lewis Clifford said: “Zaine has done everything I ask for to the best of his abilities and that’s all I ever want from a player. He’s a top lad and I hope he comes back to play for us again next season. He’s a 10 out of 10 guy. I wanted him to stay but he felt at this stage he needed to move elsewhere for more ice time.”
Zaine has decided that he’d like to pursue an opportunity with another NIHL National team who will announce his signing shortly.
Thank you Zaine for your hard work and dedication to All In Black MK Lightning. You’ve been a good team member and we will miss you. We wish you every success for the future.
