Top Rated Defenceman Ed Knaggs to return to the AIB MK Lightning Blueline
Welcome back to top defenceman Ed Knaggs who is returning to AIB Milton Keynes Lightning for 2021/22. Knaggsy signed for Lightning in the aborted 2020/21 season, and made 4 appearances in the Streaming Series. He then went on to make 7 appearances for Raiders in the Spring Cup, picking up 3 assists.
Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford has this to say about Knaggsy’s return to the club: “I’m really happy to bring Knaggsy back for the season. The previous off season, I felt that we had signed a gem which then ended up only being for the 4 game series which was a crying shame.”
23 year old Knaggsy started life as an MK junior before progressing his career in the Bracknell system. He made his Lightning debut in the 2014-15 season and played 2017-18 before spending some time at Peterborough and back in Bracknell.
He is well known to MKL fans, and is much loved for his great skating and authoritative playing style as Cliff says: “ I have known Knaggsy since he started playing when he was a junior and I have coached him on and off over the years. He adds a level of composure and distribution to our game on the back end and can play in all situations.”
Ed had this to say about his return: “I am really excited to have signed back with MKL for the upcoming season, it was an easy decision. Milton Keynes is where I first started playing hockey so will always feel like home. I can’t wait to get started in September, playing in front of our outstanding fans and working towards bringing silverware back to the club.”
Cliff finished by saying: “I’m really looking forward to seeing Knaggsy in an MKL shirt for a full season and seeing what he can bring to our line up week in week out.”
