HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW THAT I HAD A SEASON TICKET LAST YEAR?2024-03-10T13:05:14+00:00

If you held a season ticket last year, please ensure you tick the “Previous Ticket Holder 2023/24” box when completing the booking form.  Please add your block, row and seat number or Zeus standing space.

HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW WHERE I’D LIKE TO SIT OR STAND?2022-07-14T15:14:59+01:00

Please indicate where you would like to sit (e.g. Block 5 Row C Seat 12) or your preferred standing space (e.g. locker room corner or a Zeus standing space number if you know it).

Please do not pick a seat / space in the middle of 3 as a new season ticket holder,  as you will be asked to move to ensure no single seats are left.

WHICH PARTS OF THE RINK ARE THE BUSIEST OR HAVE SPACE?2024-03-10T13:05:57+00:00

For standing places, the home attacking end of the rink (and in particular the Papa John’s corner) is usually very busy.  If all previous Season Ticket holders renew, this will be the case this season too.  Seat and Standing place availability is shown on the Season Ticket page.

The rink is very busy so we will need to allocate seating to maximise capacity, and will move seats slightly at time of allocation to ensure no single seats or spaces are left.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE SECURED MY PREFERRED SEAT OR STANDING PLACE?2023-03-08T12:05:44+00:00

We will not know until the Early Bird / Renewal Deadline has passed as to what seats are available this year, so there may be a wait until we can confirm this.  If your chosen seat is already taken, we will advise a suitable alternative that is available and confirm this choice with you if you agree.

Buy your ticket in the normal way.  Add in the Zeus standing/ comments box that you ideally want XXX seats/ space, but if that does not become available, you’d like XXX space.  You will be initially allocated the ones that are free, then on the 17th May, we can move people depending on who has/ has not renewed for the new season.

Season Tickets will cover 29 games in the 24/25 season, the exact composition of games to be confirmed when agreed by the League Management Committee.

DO SEASON TICKETS HAVE BOOKING FEES?2024-03-10T13:03:12+00:00

No,  we have no booking fees, meaning a Season Ticket is even better value.  Booking online or over the phone or buying over the counter with Planet Ice will carry a 12% booking fee for Planet Ice .   As our Season Tickets do not have these charges, your Season Ticket works out even better value for money.

There is a Direct Debit option for Early Bird Prices only.

The Direct Debit option will attract a £30 administration fee on the Early Bird prices (Not applicable on child tickets).  The Direct Debit payment plan will be administered through GoCardless.  You will be required to apply via our ticketing website that will then send you an email with how to sign up with GoCardless.

The payments are split into 6 instalments.   The initial payment is taken on the MK Lightning ticketing site, then the Direct Debit will run for a further 5 payments.  Payments will be taken on the 1st of the month.

HOW DO I PAY IN FULL AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE?2022-07-14T15:19:56+01:00

The full amount of the ticket is taken by credit/ debit card at the time of purchase directly by the booking site.

IF I BUY A CONCESSION TICKET HOW WILL YOU CHECK MY ID?2023-03-08T11:00:18+00:00

For all categories other than adult season tickets we require you to provide a photocopy or scanned photo ID and proof of disability (if applicable). Your confirmation email will tell you how to submit your photo ID in advance, or just bring it with you when you collect the Season Ticket.

Recognised photo ID is: Driver’s licence, passport or other form of ID showing your date of birth. Students will be required to show a valid TOTUM or NUS Extra card

We are incredibly grateful to all frontline workers who have gone above and beyond during the Covid-19 crisis.  You will have seen that we have run a number of fundraising activities for the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity including a raffle and a special range of merchandise.  We have chosen to support the NHS through these activities so Concessions will not include NHS staff.

Yes – as long as they are in the same ticket category.  Season tickets are transferable in that they can be used by someone else of the same category (Adult, Concession or child) which will be checked on entry.

MY CHILD IS A REGISTERED MEMBER OF MK STORM. HOW DO I GET DISCOUNTED ENTRY FOR THEM?2024-03-10T12:58:37+00:00

MK Storm Juniors are once again entitled to discounted entry if registered with the club for the 2024 season in August 2024, and for the duration of the season. 

The discount will be applied to the full price Child or Concession ticket only (not a combination family ticket).  

Please email us at tickets@mk-lightning.co.uk for a discount code prior to purchasing your tickets. 

Registrations will be checked in August (and throughout the season), and if the child is not registered with Storm the full amount will be payable to secure the Season Ticket.

Due to limited space on the raised viewing standing area by block 12, this is will be prioritised for people who are mobility impaired, and their careers who will stand behind them.

When this area is full, unfortunately no more Season Tickets will be issued in this area.

Where a Season Ticket holder from last season does not renew, it allows a new applicant to take the seat, once it has been released, at Earlybird prices.

If the additional person is joining you for a single match, they will need to buy a single match ticket.

If the seat next to you is not a Season Ticket holder’s seat, they can reserve that seat on a per match basis as they buy their ticket.  Seats are reserved on a first come first served basis, and matches are normally put on sale 3 weeks in advance.

We have the ability to move Season Tickets for single matches, so you can sit with your friends.  We need as much warning as possible, and limit this to 3 moves per season.

Sorry no plans for this.  There is too much chance of this being open to abuse through the sharing of codes etc and we would risk too many free streams being issued.  Also, the way the combination of Planet Ice, TicketCo and Season Ticket systems is setup for us means that it’s not really possible to implement.

Terms & Conditions of Entry

 

Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club trading as Milton Keynes Lightning (referred to herein collectively as “MKIHC”, “MKL” “we” or “us”)) at Planet Ice Milton Keynes (“the Venue”) is respectively authorised to sell tickets to events taking place at the Venue (each an “Event”).

  1. DEFINITIONS AND INTERPRETATION
  • In these Terms, certain words have specific meanings, as follows:“MKIHC” / “MKL”/ “we” / “us” / “our” means any or all of the following companies: Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club, Milton Keynes Lightning.
    “Event” means an ice hockey game or associated event taking place at the Venue.
    “Ticket” means a ticket, electronic ticket, wristband or any other device or mechanism which allows the bearer to attend an Event.
    “Ticket Agent” means a person authorised by the Organiser(s), to sell Tickets on behalf of the Organiser(s).
    “Ticket Terms” means the terms and conditions of MKL (and in some case any other Organiser) which are printed on the back of hard copy Tickets or otherwise displayed in relation to Tickets.
    “Venue” means Planet Ice Milton Keynes
    “Venue Terms” means these terms and conditions.
    “you” / “your” means any person seeking admission to Planet Ice and/or to any specific Venue to attend an Event.
  1. HOW THESE TERMS WORK

2.1 Your admission to and conduct at the Venue is governed by these Venue Terms. By purchasing Tickets and/or entering or attempting to enter the Venue, you will be taken to have accepted these Venue Terms and, where a Ticket has been purchased, the Ticket Terms.

  1. AMENDMENTS TO THESE TERMS

3.1 These Venue Terms may be amended from time to time, to reflect changes in the rules of admission, changes in health and safety and/or security procedures, changes to the arrangements in place between MKIHC and relevant Ticket Agents and/or Organisers, and/or changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements.

3.2 Each visit to the Venue will be subject to the Venue Terms in force at the time of the visit. It is your responsibility to check the Venue Terms before entering the Venue so that you are aware of any changes.

3.3 MKIHC reserves the right to change its Ticket Terms from time to time, as these may vary on an Event by Event basis. It is your responsibility to check the Ticket Terms for each Event.

  1. YOUR TICKET

 

4.1 Your Ticket may be in the form of paper, mobile/bar code, email, wristband or chip technology or such other form that becomes available over time including paperless mechanisms. Tickets cannot be cancelled or exchanged after purchase, other than in accordance with these Venue Terms and the terms of the Ticket Agent from which they are purchased.

4.2 Only persons holding a valid Ticket (and in some cases valid ID, pursuant to section 7.1 of these Venue Terms) will be admitted to Events. You must keep your Ticket with you at all times during an Event.

4.3 Keep your Tickets safe. Your Ticket may be invalidated if any part of it is removed, altered or defaced. Removing the Ticket stub of a physical Ticket will invalidate the Ticket. Tickets cannot be duplicated if lost or stolen and neither MKIHC nor any Organiser will be liable for any lost or stolen Tickets.

4.4 Ownership or possession of a Ticket does not confer any rights (by implication or otherwise) on you to use, alter, copy or otherwise deal with any of the symbols, trademarks, logos and/or intellectual property appearing on the Ticket or used in connection with the Event.

4.5 For Events with seated and standing arrangements, each Ticket provides you with the right to use a seat (as applicable) of a value and location corresponding to that stated on your Ticket. A standing Ticket allows access to the rink, but does not confer a specific standing location (except where purchased as a Season Ticket).  Where it is not possible to allow you to occupy the specific seat printed on your Ticket we reserve the right to provide alternative seats. In these circumstances, we will use reasonable endeavours to provide you with a seat of equal value to that which you purchased. Where we are unable to do so we will reimburse to you the difference in value of the seat we are able to provide and the value of the seat printed on your Ticket. We shall have no further liability to you as a result of the change in seats.

4.6 Standing Tickets issued by Planet Ice do not entitle you to an allocated numbered standing space. Please make your way to a space on a first come first served basis. Standing tickets issued by Planet Ice may contain a number, but this DOES NOT correspond to a standing black sticker number around the rink edge.  Reserved standing Season Ticket spaces are labelled.  Season Ticket holders for an allocated Standing position will always have priority over Planet Ice issued standing tickets.  If you are occupying an allocated Season Ticket holder standing position (as indicated by a Silver Sticker and/or the Season Ticket holder’s ticket) you may be asked to relocate to another available standing location.

  1. TICKET PURCHASE & RESALE

5.1 Our authorised primary Ticket Agent (outside MKIHC) is Planet Ice. If you are unsure whether a person offering Tickets for sale is an authorised ticket agent, please contact us. Please be aware that auction sites are not authorised ticket agents.

5.2 Please only purchase tickets through authorised sites such as www.mk-lightning.co.uk or www.planet-ice.co.uk or bookwhen.com/mklightning. If you have, or suspect you may have been a victim of fraud when purchasing tickets, please report it to Action Fraud www.actionfraud.police.uk.

5.3 We are entitled to seize and/or cancel any Ticket, without notice and without refund or other compensation, which has been resold, attempted to have been resold or which has been purchased other than via an authorised Ticket Agent, ticketing partner or MKIHC. We may also seize and/or cancel without refund any Ticket purchased using (or suspected to be using methods) methods generated by a script, macro, ticket bot or automated devices. Information regarding the purchase of any such Ticket and its holder may be passed on to the relevant authorities.

5.4 We are not required to accept Tickets if we know or have reasonable grounds for believing that the Tickets have been duplicated or purchased from any of the following: unauthorised agents or other unauthorised sources including, without limitation, ticket touts. We are entitled to refuse entry to any person holding such a Ticket, or to eject them from the Venue and/or the Event.

5.6 Tickets may not be used for promotions, competitions, sweepstakes or for other commercial purposes without the prior written consent of MKIHC.

  1. AGE RESTRICTIONS AND YOUNG PERSONS

6.1 All children and infants must have a Ticket in order to attend an Event.

6.2 The following restrictions apply:

(a) children aged 15 years and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over

6.3 We do not recommend subjecting children to loud music over a sustained period of time. Hearing protection is advised for children and those sensitive to loud noise.

  1. ENTRY

7.1 For an Event at our Venue you must produce:

(a) a valid Ticket; and

(b)  in some cases, if you are the lead booker for a party you must produce valid photographic proof of identity which matches the name displayed on all Tickets held by the party;

You may be asked to show your Ticket and/or ID for inspection at any time during the Event. Failure to do so may result in you being required to leave the Venue.

7.2 Searching is a condition of entry to protect your safety and that of other visitors. We may conduct security searches of clothing, bags and other items, as determined by us in our reasonable discretion, including on entry to the Venue.

7.3 Prohibited Items – We reserve the right to prohibit:

items which are illegal. Anyone found in possession of illegal or contraband goods may also be liable for prosecution;

  • weapons, ammunition, explosives, horns, whistles, drums, fireworks, flagpoles, large umbrellas or any other item which in our reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to any Event or to other visitors (regardless of whether or not such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes);
  • religious symbols of faith, where certain conditions for entry (policy available on request and/or as otherwise determined within our discretion), are not met;
  • items which are otherwise prohibited pursuant to these Venue Terms or the Ticket Terms; or

You are not permitted to bring food and beverages into any Venue except as set out in section 10 below.

7.4 You are responsible for safeguarding your property when at the Venue. MKIHC will have no liability for property that is lost, stolen or damaged when at the Venue. All items left with stewards before entry into a Venue are left at your own risk.

7.5 Animals, with the exception of assistance dogs, are not permitted in the Venue. Customers attending with assistance dogs are requested to contact Planet Ice in advance of booking tickets for further information.

7.6 You may be ejected from or not permitted to enter the Venue and required to surrender any Tickets you hold, without refund, if you refuse:

to leave a Prohibited Item (see section 7.3)with our stewards;
to be searched; and/or
in our reasonable opinion, you or your behaviour, or any item you are carrying might:

(a) pose a health and safety risk;
(b) affect the enjoyment of other visitors;
(c) affect the running of the Event;
(d) cause damage to or interfere with the property of MKIHC or the Organisers;
(e) be in breach of these Venue Terms or the Ticket Terms;
(f) be illegal;
(g) lead to a breach of any licensing conditions applicable at the Venue; or
(h) be in breach of any rules and regulations exhibited on notices at the Venue, such as (without limitation):

entering any backstage or prohibited areas;
standing on seats or in walkways;
climbing on the building structure;
throwing any objects or substances onto the stage or into the crowd or at another visitor; or
smoking, including e-cigarettes.

7.7 In order to ensure the security, safety and comfort of all visitors, we reserve the right at our reasonable discretion to refuse your admission to, or to eject you from, the relevant Venue without compensation or refund.

7.8 Should you experience any problems while at the Venue please contact the nearest steward so that every reasonable effort can be made to resolve the issue prior to, or during the Event you are attending. Complaints are very difficult to resolve after the Event.

  1. EVENTS

    8.1 There will be no admission to the Event before the designated door opening times.8.2 For some specific Events, and at the request of the club, latecomers may not be admitted into the Venue until a suitable break in the game. We will not refund Tickets if you miss all or part of an Event due to your late arrival.8.3 You are required to observe and comply with all rules and regulations shown on notices at the Venue and to comply with all instructions given to you by Venue stewards and staff at the Event.8.4 All advertised times are approximate and subject to change. It is your responsibility to make appropriate arrangements to ensure that you arrive at the Venue in sufficient time in case the Event starts early and to ensure that you are able to stay until the close of the Event, should you wish to if it overruns. If an Event does not run to the precise times advertised, refunds will not be payable on Tickets and we will not be responsible for the cost of alternative travel arrangements or for any other loss you suffer (including loss of enjoyment).8.5 CCTV and film cameras may be present at and around the Venue. This includes filming by the police and/or security staff carried out for the purposes of providing the safety of visitors, and filming and/or photography of the Event. By purchasing a Ticket to an Event and/or attending the Venue you give your express consent to all such filming and to your actual or simulated likeness being included within any: film, photograph, audio and/or audio-visual recording (“Footage”). All rights in such Footage which will be owned by us or the relevant third party.

You also agree that any such Footage may be used by us in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world, including (with the exception of CCTV or security Footage) for commercial purposes, such as merchandising or DVDs, without payment or compensation to you.

8.6 You must leave the Venue quietly in consideration for our neighbours. Any failure to do so may result in you being refused entry to, or permission to purchase Tickets to, future Events.

  1. HEALTH AND SAFETY

9.1 In case of emergency please follow instructions and directions from stewards, staff and/or other officials.

9.2 No smoking is permitted in any part of the Venue. Electronic cigarettes may be used in communal areas but must not be used in the Venue or prohibited areas.

9.3 WARNING – prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause damage to your hearing. Flashing lights may be used during a performance.

9.4 If you have any specific access requirements, please contact us before purchasing Tickets, to ensure that we can accommodate your requirements. Accessible seating may not be available unless it is arranged in advance.

  1. FOOD AND BEVERAGE

10.1 No food or drink may be brought into any Venue (except in limited circumstances on proven medical grounds) unless otherwise notified at our discretion. A variety of food and/or beverages will be available for purchase within our Venue.

10.2 Sealed bottles of water may be brought into the Venue, or a suitable, empty drinking container may be used which may be filled with water when inside the venue.

10.3 When purchasing alcohol, if you appear to be under the age of 25, you may be asked for proof of age. We reserve the right to refuse to serve you alcohol if you do not have valid photographic ID.

10.4 We reserve the right to refuse to serve you alcohol if, in our reasonable opinion, we believe that you are intoxicated or likely to become intoxicated if we serve you further alcoholic beverages.

  1. MERCHANDISE

11.1 Official merchandise is only available from specified outlets within the Venue. Please be wary of unofficial traders offering inferior goods for which we accept no responsibility.

11.2 You are not permitted to sell or offer for sale or distribute any items whilst at or in the surroundings of the Venue including, without limitation, merchandise, Tickets, food, beverages, cigarettes or smoking materials, newspapers or magazines.

11.3 You must not bring into the Venue or display or distribute (whether for free or with a charge) at an Event any sponsorship, promotional or marketing materials nor any leaflets, signage or other materials containing religious or political messaging.

  1. CANCELLATION, POSTPONEMENT AND ALTERATIONS

12.1 MKIHC may make alterations to Events which are not material in nature. No refunds will be available in respect of non-material alterations.

A “material” change is a change to an Event which in the reasonable opinion of MKIHC or the Organiser, makes the Event substantially different to the Event which purchasers of the Ticket would reasonably expect to attend. Changes to performance times, supporting acts and the use of understudies in a theatre performance will not be a material change.

12.2 In the event of a cancellation of, postponement of or material change to an Event you may be entitled to a refund in accordance with the terms and conditions or refund policy of the authorised Ticket Agent from whom you purchased your Ticket(s) and you must contact the Ticket Agent to request all refunds.

12.3 It is your responsibility to check the website for the Venue or Ticket Agent for news of any cancellation, postponement or alteration of the Event. Information on such matters will be made available as soon as reasonably practicable on MKIHC website and/or physically at the Venue. Customers are advised that the website cannot always be updated immediately and that circumstances giving rise to cancellation or alterations may arise immediately prior to an Event.

12.4 Ticket refunds will not be offered if you are no longer attending an event for which you have purchased a ticket.  In this case, you may request transfer of your ticket to an alternative MK Lightning fixture.

  1. LIABILITY

 

THIS SECTION IS IMPORTANT AS IT SETS OUT THE LIMITS OF OUR LIABILITY TO YOU. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY

13.1 Subject to section 13.2, if we breach our obligations to you under these Venue Terms or if we are negligent and, as a result, you suffer any loss or damage in connection with your visit to Planet Ice:

(a) we will only be liable for your loss or damage up to an amount equal to the face value of the Ticket purchased by you for the Event you are attending (if any); and

(b) we will not be liable to you for any losses or expenses incurred in connection with your visit to the Venue, any Event, or its cancellation postponement or changes. For example we will not be liable to you for the cost of any personal travel, accommodation or hospitality arrangements made in connection with any Event or visit to Planet Ice.

13.2 For the purposes of these Terms, “Force Majeure” means any cause beyond MKIHC’s reasonable control, including, without limitation, any act of God, war, insurrection, riot, civil disturbances, acts of terrorism, fire, explosion, flood, royal death, national mourning (including as a result of a royal death), theft of essential equipment, malicious damage, strike, lock out, weather, national defence requirements or acts or regulations of national or local governments. Neither we nor the Venue will be liable to you under these Venue Terms to the extent that any loss or failure of MKIHC is caused by a Force Majeure event.

13.3 Notwithstanding sections 13.1 and 13.2 above, nothing in these Venue Terms shall be construed as excluding or restricting our liability for death and/or personal injury caused by our negligence or for any other form of liability that may not be limited by law.

  1. GENERAL

14.1 To the fullest extent permissible in law, we shall be entitled to assign any and all of our rights and obligations under these Venue Terms, provided that your rights are not adversely affected.

14.2 If any provision of these Venue Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the invalid or unenforceable provision shall be severed or amended in such a manner as to make the rest of the provision(s) and remainder of these Venue Terms valid and enforceable.

Ice hockey is played over 3 x 20 minute periods with an ice resurfacing between them. The clock stops for penalties too, so expect a full to take between 2 and 2 and a half hours.

Yes, 100% Ice Hockey is a family friendly sport.  We welcome everyone with open arms, away fans included. 

Ice Hockey has a different crowd to some sports, old, young, home or away fans, you are all welcome to watch.

While Ice hockey has a bit of a reputation for fighting (and that’s not to say there won’t be fights), these will be limited to on the ice.

Seating or standing – its a personal preference, but we can give you an idea of where things are located.

MK Lightning attack towards the entrance twice, so blocks 13, 14, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are the most popular.

Block 2 is closest to the bar, and block 3 above the cafe.

Block 13 is over the players benches, whereas block 6 is opposite if you want to see the players changing their lines (More about the game here).

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 9 10 and 11, are behind a net to stop flying pucks.

Block 11 houses our amazing drummers, which can get a bit loud with their singing.

Block 8 is for away fans (so they can see their side attacking twice)

Lastly, there are structural pillars in block 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Any seats row F or above may have restricted view – so get your tickets early.  

There are no structural pillars on the other side of the rink Blocks 12, 13 and 14.

 

Standing Tickets are available – these are unallocated and on a first come first served basis.  Buy a standing ticket, and stand where there is a space – look out for Reserved for Season Ticket Holder stickers – these places as reserved for whole season.

Yes, we have standing spaces around the rink.  Look out for the Season ticket reserved stickers on the barrier, these spaces are sold for the whole season.  All other standing tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, you can stand  anywhere there is not a reserved sticker.  (The number on your standing ticket does not relate to a space in the rink).

There are more spaces on the sides of the rink, and head up towards block 7 for lots of spaces.

You need to buy a “Standing ticket” when asked what ticket to buy.

Where do Disabled people sit at the Ice Hockey in MK?2024-03-23T09:18:29+00:00

Most of the seating in the stands is accessed via steps.  Planet Ice does have a lift that can access the bar, and the restaurant.  This also provides a level access to G in block 4.

We also have an area by the plexi glass, that the floor is higher, so you can sit and watch the match in your wheelchair.  Tickets for this area are sold as CA and WC.  Due to the limited space in this area we request that you buy a ticket for the wheelchair user, and 1 carer only.  All other members of the party should purchase tickets for another area in the rink (e.g. block 12 above the ramp)

We are very lucky at Milton Keynes Planet Ice as the rink is not that cold.  A coat and a jumper are usually the perfect combination to keep you warm.

The great thing about the arena watching Ice hockey is that you are guaranteed the same “weather” every time!  No rain, and a bit cold so you can come prepared.

Where do you park for the Ice Hockey at Milton Keynes Lightning2023-04-12T13:04:33+01:00

Planet Ice Milton Keynes has limited parking spaces outside the rink, this costs £2 for 2 hours, and £4 for 4 hours, payable at the machines on site.

Do not park in the underground carpark at Morrisons which is next door, they lock the car park at 8pm on a Saturday or 30 minutes after the shop closes on a Sunday.  

Additional Parking

A lot of people park near the main entrance of Morrisons, and up by Argos and Toys R Us. 

New signs have been installed regarding parking outside of store opening hours – please check local signs for current information. 

Parking charges do apply in the council bays until 6pm, and you can pay by phone, the App or cash at the machine.    The rink is a 5 minutes walk from here.

 

What time should I arrive for an MK Lightning Ice Hockey Match?2022-08-02T10:21:48+01:00

Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm face off.  Get here early to avoid the queues, and to find you seats.

The Olympia (Ice surfacing machine), will be out on the ice, getting the Ice Pad ready for the match, it’s quite fascinating to watch!

At 6.20pm, the players will come out onto the ice for an on Ice Warm Up.  Lots of people like to watch this from the Plexi glass, just keep a look out  Season Ticket reserved spaces labeled around the barrier.

MK Lightning will be warming up down the far end of the rink from where you enter, by blocks 9, 10 and 11.

Warm up finishes at 6.40pm, and the Olympia comes out again to get the ice ready for the match.

It will be loud!  Any stoppage in play the DJ will put some songs on for the crowd to sing along with.  

The Supporters Club run 4 different competitions on a match night for you to get involved in, with the different sellers wearing different coloured high viz jackets. They are: 

50:50 Raffle

This is a cash prize raffle where you can win 50% (half) of the money taken for this raffle, with the other half going to the team. Prices are £1 for 1 ticket, £2 for 3 tickets and £5 for 10 tickets. The draw takes place in the 2nd period break. Look out for the sellers in the BLUE high viz jackets walking round the rink for cash payments, or head to the SC stand to buy them on a card.

Chuck a Duck

Each duck is £1. The seller will write your name next to the duck’s number. In the second period break, when the announcer says and the tune plays, throw your duck onto the ice. If it lands closest to a prize, you win the prize. Look out for the seller in the YELLOW high viz jacket with the basket of ducks! This competition is cash only from the seller.

Ollie’s Grid

Each square on the grid costs £1 and gives you the chance to win a one-off prize, such as signed shirt or the jersey of your choice! You choose your number on the grid & the seller Ollie will write your name next to it. Then in the 2nd period break listen out for your number being drawn! Look out for Ollie in the ORANGE high viz jacket. This competition is cash only.

Shirt off His back

This is a raffle where you get the chance to win one of two shirts. One will be the shirt from a specific player and will have been worn during the game that night (it’ll be washed before we give it to you!), with the 2nd shirt being a players replica jersey. Prices are £1 for 1 ticket, £2 for 3 tickets and £5 for 10 tickets. The draw takes place in the 2nd period break. Look out for the sellers in the PINK high viz jackets walking round the rink for cash payments, or head to the SC stand to buy them on a card.

Basics of Ice Hockey2022-11-01T21:04:48+00:00

It’s a fast sport!  The puck can travel at around 100mph, and the skaters are fast.

The game is played in three 20 minutes periods with the ice resurfaced between the periods.

The aim is to score as many goals as you can – Ice hockey does not end with a draw, so if its level score at the end of 60 minutes, the match will go to overtime and penalties shots.

When the match starts there should be 1 goalie, and 5 players  for each team.

Then the fun starts, the match faces off.  

The players are generally on the ice for about 1-2 minutes before they will switch “lines” (watch the bench here).  3 players may go off, and will be replaced by 3 other payers, and this will continue throughout the match.

As we said before Ice hockey is a fast sport, and this gives the guys a chance to recover.

Should any player get a penalty, which could be tripping, hooking, slashing, or even too many men on the ice (see above we are only allowed 5 players), the player who got the penalty will go to the penalty box, known as the sin bin.

Most penalties will be 2 minutes, but some are 5 minutes, like fighting, and some penalities can be more than this.

When this happens, the team with the person in the penalty box  will be player one player down, known as a Powerplay to the other team.

The announcer will let you know, and the score board will show who’s in the Sin Bin!

We have an official supplier for our merchandise, which can be purchased online or on match nights. Please only buy from the official supplier.

Disability
  • The person with the disability purchases a full price ticket of the correct category above, and a carer is admitted free of charge on submission of an Access Card with the +1 symbol awarded.
  • All children aged 15 and under are required to have an adult supervising them at the rink. As such, no carer tickets will be issued to children, as they are all required to have an adult present. Concessions and Adults need to apply following the process below.
  • You can apply for a Free MKL Only Access card here
  • Email your Access Card number, First and Last Name to info@mk-lightning.co.uk at least 7 days in advance on the match.  (MKL will confirm and send the details to Planet Ice)
  • Please call Planet Ice on 01908 540020 to purchase tickets together with your Access Card number that you have submitted in advance to MKL (you can not do this online).  Please read more about the process and  what is accepted here.
