Adding to the club’s involvement in the local community, the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning will next season continue its successful ticket scheme for sporting groups.

The scheme allows sports teams and clubs to raise vital funding for equipment and their members to enjoy all the fast-paced action of Elite League ice hockey, watching an MKL home fixture of their choice.

Last season the Lightning welcomed sporting groups from a wide range of sports including football, rugby, roller hockey, field hockey, Korfball, lacrosse and the MK Redway Runners group – as well as local Brownies, Scouts and Girl Guides.

Matchnight tickets for group members are discounted compared with the normal price, with an additional sum per ticket sold going direct to each group as a cashback benefit.

Sarah Jane Smyth, the MK Lightning’s Commercial Manager said,

“We’re incredibly proud of our activities within the community and as a sports club we enjoy helping other sports clubs. Professional ice hockey is a breathtaking sport to watch and play, so its great to welcome others who love sport to watch ours. Helping these smaller clubs raise money is just the icing on the cake.

“We’ve already announced our pre season home challenge matches to give a preview of what to expect from the season ahead, book your sports group in now for one of those two derby games. The scheme was very popular indeed last season. We helped local groups raise more than £600 in total and it would be just amazing to raise even more this year!”

Applications are now open for groups to attend MK Lightning’s two pre-season fixtures: against Guildford Flames on Saturday 1 September (7.00pm) and against Coventry Blaze on Wednesday 5 September (7.45pm).
