All In Black MK Lightning and the Supporters Club helping the Homeless this Christmas.
We are delighted to announce that this Christmas All in Black MK Lightning together with the MKL Supporters club will be collecting donations for The Winter Night Shelter in Milton Keynes.
The shelter is located very close to the rink in the old bus station opposite the train station, so any donations really will help those locally in need.
Dave Bunyan from the MKL Supporters Club said “As a club over the years we have raised awareness for many great organisations and charities, amongst those has been Breast Cancer Care, Help for Heroes, MK Hospital, Willen Hospice, The Royal British Legion and many others. This winter seems to be colder and harsher and many of us would of seen the less fortunate to be out on the streets in and around Milton Keynes in all weathers, this really hit home and wanting to try and do something to “help” I popped into the Winter Night Shelter in the old bus station and was humbled to see the great work they are doing. After speaking to a number of people in MKL we soon decided this is something we should get behind and try to make a difference, knowing the kindness, generosity and support of fellow MKL fans I know we will go that extra step to help those that really need it the most right now.”
Russell Marriott, Winter Night Shelter MK fundraising manager, said, “We are incredibly grateful to MK Lightning and their fans for their support and kind donations. Sadly, we are seeing a huge increase in those who are at crisis point or already homeless, who urgently need our help, and this will enable us to continue to support the most vulnerable individuals and families throughout the Christmas period and beyond.”
Tom Roberts from the MK Lightning Board said: “We know that the world is pretty tough for a lot of people right now, and in the same way we as a club have amazing supporters, we too wanted to be supporters to others. When Dave came to us with this idea, we immediately wanted to help both by raising awareness and by enabling our fans to contribute if they can. As a club we will be providing at least one each of all the items on the list below and it would be wonderful for our fans to give what they feel able to. Thank you all for your support which the Winter Night Shelter truly appreciates.”
The list of items that are most urgently needed is below, please bring any donations to the game on the 22nd December – MKL vs Raiders.
