In a colourful display of solidarity and inclusion, the Milton Keynes Lightning Ice Hockey Team is thrilled to announce its active participation in the upcoming EIH Pride Week. This initiative, spearheaded by England Ice Hockey (EIH), aims to champion diversity and inclusivity within the sport, promoting an environment where every athlete, staff member, and fan feels respected and welcomed, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Throughout the game on the 27th January vs Peterborough Phantoms, MK Lightning will be embracing the spirit of Pride. The team will wear specially designed jerseys featuring the rainbow colours, a universal symbol of the LGBTQ+ community.  Â
In an exciting collaboration, MK Lightning is honoured to again host members from Q:Alliance at the upcoming match. Q:Alliance, a prominent local organisation dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, will be present to engage with fans and provide insightful information about the invaluable services they offer. This partnership underscores the team’s dedication to building a deeper understanding and acceptance within our community.
Adding a burst of entertainment and joy to the event, the renowned Sandy Flaps will be once again gracing the occasion. Sandy’s presence is sure to bring an extra layer of excitement and unity, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Pride, and it is not to be missed!
The Supporters Club has created a great collection of merchandise, thoughtfully integrating the vibrant hues of the rainbow, which will be available online this week. You can order in advance and also purchase at the match. There is a limited number of some items so don’t miss out – more details will be released shortly. Â
“We are delighted to participate in EHIA Pride Week. It’s a powerful opportunity for us to stand shoulder to shoulder with our players, fans, and the wider community in celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity,” said Tom Roberts of Milton Keynes Lightning. “Ice hockey is more than a game; it’s a community, and every member of this community deserves to feel valued and respected. We are proud to skate together towards a future where everyone, regardless of who they are or who they love, feels an integral part of this incredible sport.”
The Milton Keynes Lightning invites all fans and community members to join us in this meaningful celebration. Let’s come together to cheer, support, and drive forward the message of love, acceptance, and unity.
