We are delighted that Adam Laishram will join AIB Milton Keynes Lightning for the 2021/22 season. Adam is a British passport holder, but having spent his career to date in Canada, he is classified as a non-British trained player.
24 year old Adam was born in Ashburn, Ontario, Canada has spent the last 4 years at St Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. Prior to that he spent 4 years and made 225 appearances in the prestigious Ontario Hockey League for Belleville Bulls, Hamilton Bulldogs and Windsor Spitfires, picking up 91 points overall.
Most significantly, in the 2016/17 season Adam was a key part of the Spitfires side which won the Memorial Cup which is the national championship of the Canadian major junior hockey leagues. Adam’s Hamilton Bulldogs coach, former NHL star Steve Staios described Adam as “Terrific” and went on to say: “He does anything and everything you ask him do to at the top level he can. He is a 10 out of 10, that’s what he is as a person.”
AIB MK Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford picks up the story: “Adam is an exciting addition to the roster. Having done my research, watched videos and received references I know that he will fit right into our team. Adam is a great skater, with a lot of speed, works hard in all three zones, and has a great hockey pedigree.
To receive an award for being the hardest working player in the OHL proves that we’ve signed a player not only with a whole lot of talent but also a relentless work ethic.
I’m looking forward to working with Adam and seeing his attributes compliment the rest of our roster on the ice.”
Adam himself is looking forward to the new challenge this side of the Atlantic saying: “I am very excited to be joining the Milton Keynes Lightning for the upcoming season. Having British roots, coming overseas to play has always been a big interest of mine. When the opportunity to join the squad and play in front of such a great fanbase arose, I was thrilled. The management, staff, and players have been very welcoming, and I can’t wait to get things started!”
Adam will wear the number 48 jersey for which the Own and Loan is now available. Please email dave@b2promodesign.com.
