The rollercoaster comes to an end as Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning take on Fife Flyers in their final home game of their debut Elite League season. In what has been a thrilling season Lightning welcome the Gardiner Champions with the head to head series currently being led 2-1 by the Flyers.

Fife come to Buckinghamshire as Champions of their conference, finishing first ahead of fellow Scottish sides Braehead Clan, Dundee Stars and Edinburgh Capitals. The Flyers have qualified for the PredictorBet Elite League Playoffs and are currently fourth in the table. The Scottish champions are currently involved in a tight midtable battle with just 4 points separating 7th from 3rd meaning this weekend it’s still all to play for with regards to the PredictorBet Elite League Quarter Final Playoffs match ups.

Lightning come into this game having beaten every single Elite League team in their debut season, an incredible achievement for a first year side and will be looking to tie the series against their Scottish opponents.

It is Head Coach Peter Russell’s last game before departing Milton Keynes so everyone will look to send off Pete with the best possible result.

Farewell to Peter Russell

Not only is it our last home game of our debut Elite League season we also bid goodbye to our Head Coach Peter Russell. Under Pete’s leadership Lightning have developed as an organisation both on and off the ice, resulting in the team’s debut Elite League season this year. The highlight of Russell’s tenure here at MK Arena was the English Premier League Playoff and Cup double of 2016/17 meaning Lightning became the most successful English Premier League Ice Hockey club of all time. Everyone at MK Lightning wishes Pete and his family the best of luck for the future.
