Players To Watch
Fan favourite Kyle Essery could be back from a lengthy injury layoff, having not played since January 6th. The Canadian has 10 points in 29 games this season and will be a welcome boost to Peter Russell’s side should he return this Thursday. Another fan favourite Miika Wiikman made his return last Sunday in Lightning’s loss to Coventry, for the first time since January as well and has an impressive .90% save percentage. Both would be timely returns as we enter the final few weeks of the season.
Mike Cazzola is Edinburgh’s top point scorer this season with 38 points in 39 games and has 4 points in his last 5, recording a hat trick of assists against the Dundee Stars in a 5-4 defeat. Russian forward Igor Valeyev has the most penalty minutes for the Capitals with 73 minutes spent in the box this season.
