After playing 21 games with in MK colours, the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning can confirm that British forward Ashley Tait is to leave the club.
Ashley joined the Lightning in September on a short term basis, initially as injury cover and his experience in the British game has been valuable to the Lightning in their debut season in the sport’s top tier in the UK.
Head Coach Pete Russell was quick to thank Ashley, commenting: “Ash is a friend and someone I’ve known for a long time. He signed to help us out, and that deal extended for a while longer. But we are simply not in a position to extend it further.
“Ash has been great on and off the ice – a real team player. I want to thank him on behalf of the whole organisation and our supporters for everything he’s done for us, and wish him and his lovely family every success for the future.”
Ashley Tait thanked Lightning for the opportunity, saying: “I want to thank Pete and the Lightning organisation for this chance – it’s been a great few months and I wish them every success for the rest of the season.”
The auction for Ashley’s Challenge Cup jersey will end during this coming Saturday’s home league game against Belfast Giants (face off 7pm), with a deadline for bids of five minutes before the end of the second period break. Bids can be made in person only, at the Supporters’ Club stand by block 14.
