With just six weeks left until pre season challenges commence, the Smith Recycling MK Lightning have secured the signature of high-energy young American prospect, Ben Foster.
Standing at 6ft 1ins, Ben, 24, plays left wing and recently completed his studies at Princeton University. In 2011 he attracted interest from the NHL when he was added to the list of “Players to Watch” list by the league’s Central Scouting team for that year’s draft.
The following season he was invited to the New York Rangers Development Camp.
Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell is full of enthusiasm for the qualities that Ben will bring to the team: “I’m delighted to add this hungry NCAA forward to our line up for the coming season.
“He joins us from a really good NCAA collage in Princeton and has had a great hockey education in junior and college. My plan was always to bring in at least two NCAA players to our roster – and in Ben we have the first.
“Ben is a strong skater with a decent skill set and plays with energy. He can can play either on the wing or in centre and is a 200ft player. He has good size and uses it well while forechecking, in the corners and going to the net. He’s a really smart player and finds good spots.
“When I communicated to Ben’s coaches about him it was all positive and they believe he has more offensive talents than his numbers show so far.
“With this signing it adds more depth to our line up and we are absolutely delighted to have him.”
Ben Foster’s home, away and warm up jerseys will be available for sponsorship on our Own & Loan Scheme on a first come, first served basis, as soon as this announcement is published on the MKL website – the cost is £200 per home or away shirt and £150 for warm up.
