Time for the next set of players taking to the ice with Ross Green for his Testimonial on the 4th May 24.
Details of whose jerseys are available for Own and Loan are included below – please follow the instructions at the bottom of the post.
ARCHIE SALISBURY
Archie is coming to the end of his first season with the Lightning after playing the majority of his youth hockey in his hometown of Peterborough. Our assistant coach, Joe Wilson, had spoken very highly of Archie to Head Coach Tim Wallace – who needed little convincing of the D-man’s ability, having monitored him for a couple of seasons. Last season he earned his debut in GB colours with the U18 squad and he has enjoyed a solid first season in the black and gold here in MK. 🟢Own and Loan
COREY MCEWEN
Although Corey began his hockey career in Peterborough before moving to Canada, honing his skills over seven seasons before making his British second tier debut in 2015. Centreman Corey returned to the Phantoms for four more seasons before making the move to Lightning for the current season, where he’s become an integral member of our team. 🟢Own and Loan
ED KNAGGS
Another player who started his career in MK, Ed has played a key part in Lightning’s season as one of our hardworking blue liners. He’s a solid, dependable D-man, known for his slick skating and confident puck movement.
HARRY GULLIVER
Harry’s certainly made an impact in his debut Lightning season – not just for his ability but also for THAT song! Harry finessed his hockey skills at the Okanagan Hockey Academy under the now GB Head Coach and former Lightning boss, Pete Russell, earning call ups for GB at U18 and U20 levels. After four years in the US he returned to the British game and signed for MKL after a solid season with Raiders – practising his own brand of magic in MK! 🟢Own and Loan
ADAM BRITTLE
Telford born “Britts” wore the black and gold of MK for four seasons from 2009, a member of the team who won the league title of 2009-10. Adam was already established as a GB U18 and U20 regular before he signed for Lightning and was an ever-present in the roster during his time with us. He then played for Blackburn, Telford and finally Solihull before hanging up his skates in 2020.
MICHAEL FARN
D-man ‘Farny’ played for eight seasons in MK, part of the team that won Cup & Playoff double in his last season with us. After MK he signed at Streatham ending his career there as a successful player-coach. He’s now hung up his skates and we know you’ll give him a fantastic welcome back to our barn! ⚪️ Own and Loan
MIKEY POWER
Mikey was signed by Lewis Clifford mid-way through the 2021 season to drive additional depth and firepower and immediately added a very physical presence to our forward lines. He learned his hockey in Romford, Slough and Swindon as well as three seasons with the prestigious Okanagan academy. Following three seasons in the US he came back to the UK with Bees then MK and is currently icing for the Raiders organisation. ⚪️ Own and Loan
JACOB HERON
Jacob worked his way up through the MK hockey system, playing for Storm, Thunder and Lightning – helping MKL to win the league in the 2009 season. After several seasons out of the game to concentrate on building a successful business in Manchester and raising his family, he iced again with Widnes Wild in NIHL1 for part of last season. ⚪️ Own and Loan
JOE EDWARDS
Oxford-born forward Joe played alongside Ross when both iced for MK Thunder in the 2018-19 season. Prior to signing on with the Thunder, Joe played for Slough Spitfires and Oxford City Stars – playing all of his games since 2012 with Stars apart from his period alongside Sloth in Thunder colours in 2018. Welcome back to Milton Keynes, Joe!
CAM GREEN
From Ross: “I am beyond thrilled to share some exciting news with all of you. My brother, Cam Green, will be hitting the ice alongside me once more for my upcoming testimonial event! as we reminisce about our memories playing for Milton Keynes Storm.
Cam, who is just 17 months younger than me, has been an integral part of my hockey career since day one. From playing in the same junior teams to countless hours spent competing against each other on the rink and in the cul-de-sac playing roller hockey, Cam has always, pushed me to be a better player, and for that I owe a great deal of my success to him. While I may not always give him the credit he deserves, his influence on my journey cannot be overstated.
Unfortunately, Cam’s hockey career was cut short due to a ruptured spleen, but I am grateful for the opportunity to share the ice with him once again during my testimonial. It’s a chance to relive old memories, create new ones, and celebrate the bond we share both on and off the ice.
I am incredibly proud to have Cam by my side for this special event, and I know that having him on the ice with me will make the testimonial even more meaningful. Here’s to a night filled with brotherly love, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments. Let’s make it one to remember!”
DEAN SKINNS
Basingstoke-born Dean is a respected and well-liked player around British hockey, and fans were thrilled when he agreed to join Lightning for the 2015-16 season from his hometown team, the Bison. Dean honed his hockey skills with the Bison organisation as a junior, also spending time with Bracknell, Slough, Guildford and Swindon before Lightning gained the benefit of his skill between the pipes. After a season in our colours he moved on again – but by 2019 “Skinnsy” was back in black and gold for one more season. This season he’s given the benefit of his more than 700 games’ experience to the Bristol Pitbulls, and we know you’ll give him a warm welcome when he returns to MK again this Saturday!
BARRY HOLLYHEAD
Barry was a member of the inaugural Lightning roster when the club was first formed in 2002, backstopping the team to the League title at the very first attempt! After two seasons in black and gold he returned to Telford, where he learned the game as a junior – but by 2006 the lure of the Lightning saw him back in MK where he stayed for another six seasons. Barry was between the pipes for 273 league and playoff fixtures for MKL before handing over netminding duties to Alex Mettam, but he left us as a fans’ favourite – and we know so many of you will be thrilled to see Barry back on our ice!
