Last week AIB Milton Keynes Lightning #5 defenceman Ben Russell came to us and told us about Jake Peill. Ben had seen Jake’s story on his local estate Facebook group, and wondered if the amazing MKL fans might be able to help Jake in his quest.
6 year old Jake was bullied by some children on his estate last year and was upset when he saw some others receiving the same treatment when they were out playing near their homes. He decided that he’d like to show that people can be kind and generous, and seeing some selection boxes in the local shops he decided to see if he could buy some to donate to children in hospital, and to local food banks. He even put his own £20 birthday money towards buying some, and has set himself a target of buying £200 of selection boxes for children this Christmas. He wants to buy chocolate treats for more than 200 needy or sick children this Christmas and says he is carrying out his act of kindness so that bullies realise it is “better to be nice”.
Ben thought we all might be able to help by bringing a selection box for donation, or making a cash donation to Jake so he can buy some himself. Jake will join us for the game this weekend vs. Telford, and here’s how you can help:
Donate a selection box: Bring a selection box of your choice, unopened, and leave it with the MKL people at the reception desk (ticket collection point) before the game. Please ensure the selection box is unopened and in date!
Donate some cash: If you’d prefer to donate cash, we’ll have a collection bucket at the same ticket desk, and we’ll pass 100% of what goes in that bucket to Jake when he leaves at the end of the match
Buy a selection box on our online shop and we will pass it to Jake directly
Every little small donation will help Jake. We look forward to welcoming him to the game on Saturday. Whatever you feel you can do will be amazing!
Thank you all!
