Excitement alert! Our very own Disco, Liam Stewart, has committed to MKL for the 2022/23 season, his fourth season!
Well known as one of the most exciting players in the NIHL National, Liam picked up 41 points in 45 games for Lightning in the 2021/22 season is always a massive part of our energy and passion on the ice.
His background is top quality. 4 seasons in the WHL with Spokane, to EIHL appearances with Coventry and Guildford (via the ECHL). He has represented GB at Under 20 and Senior Level, helping secure promotion out of Division 1B in 2016/17.
A super favourite of MKL fans, Disco is a massive part of our team on and off the ice as AIB MKL’s Tim Wallace explains: “Stewy is clearly a huge part of our team and organisation and we are delighted to have him back. He brings pace and creativity to the line up, as well as being strong on the puck winning his battles. On top of this, he plays a key role in our special teams too. When Stewy is at his best he can take over games and dominate. His impact is all over the ice. We know that Stewy has aspirations to make it back into Team GB, and we are going to work hard to try and create this opportunity for him. I look forward to working with him this year.”
Currently spending the summer in California, when we asked Disco for a quote about coming back he simply said: “CAN I GET A HELLLLLLL YEAHHHH!!!”. That pretty much sums him up!
