MK Lightning is excited to announce the return of standout defenceman Ben Solder for the 2024/25 season. Solder, who is re-signing for his second consecutive season, proved his worth to the team last year with a remarkable performance in 51 games, recording 3 goals and 20 assists, tallying 23 points.
Solder’s journey to professional hockey began in his junior years with Chelmsford and the Ontario Hockey Academy. In his debut season with the Lightning, he quickly became an integral part of the defensive line, contributing both offensively and defensively. His tenacity and consistency in puck battles made him a formidable presence on the ice.
Reflecting on Solder’s impact and the anticipation of his return, MK Lightning Head Coach Tim Wallace expressed his admiration: “Ben is one of the best defensemen in the league when he is playing his game. He has speed, skill, and strength. He was the leader in puck battles for us last year, and we missed him desperately when he got injured at the end of the year. The sky is the limit for Ben, and I am looking forward to seeing him back on the ice in August.”
Solder is eager to continue his journey with MK Lightning, sharing his excitement for another season in Milton Keynes: “I’m thrilled to be back with MK Lightning. The team and the fans have made this an incredible place to play hockey. Last year was challenging but rewarding, and I’m ready to work hard to help the team chase another trophy. The support here is unmatched, and I can’t wait to get back on the ice.”
Solder’s return marks the first Defenceman on the rooster so far, and adds a steadying influence that will undoubtedly strengthen the team’s pursuit of championship success in the 2024/25 season. His resilience and skill set will be crucial as MK Lightning aims to build on last season’s momentum.
With Wallace and Solder sharing a clear vision of championship aspirations, the entire Lightning community is eager to see how this season unfolds.Â
