Lightning in the community

MK Lightning have always found time to give back to their local community.

The team and management believe that community investment in the local community is critically important; itís not just a way to give back to fans.

Itís also a really great way to spread the positives of sport, camaraderie, health and fitness to young people across Milton Keynes.

MK Lightning Schools' Enterprise Scheme

MK Lightning run a thriving Schoolís Enterprise Scheme. Each year it has increased in scope with more than 40 schools participating in the 2017/18 season, which meant that more than 6,500 people were able to attend an MK Lightning game through the scheme.

How does the Scheme work?

MK Lightning invite participating schools to a home game during the ice hockey season, with team members and our beloved mascot, Pucky the Polar Bear presenting the scheme details at a special assembly to the children and staff.

This special assembly provides the children and teachers with information on the team and also ice hockey in general, with one child invited to dress up and model a replica kit.

The children are provided with a stock of heavily discounted tickets to sell to family and friends, with the school managing the administration of the scheme and reporting back to the MK Lightning team with ticket requirements.

This season, tickets sold under the Schools Enterprise Scheme will be priced at £9 each, with £3 going straight back to the school!

The Scheme is an excellent fundraiser for schools across Milton Keynes, as well as a brilliant way to introduce young and old to this awesome sport.

And as well as enjoying the game, ticket holders also get to participate in the after-match skating for free, just paying for skate hire, which they can hire from reception during period breaks.

MK Lightning are pleased to announce another fantastic community partnership, this time with MK Community Foundation Ė read all about this great collaboration!
