Today we are sharing the news of the re-signing of defenceman James Griffin for the 2023/24 season. The upcoming season marks Griffin’s 9th year with the team, and we know fans will be excited to see him hit the ice once again.
Last year, 30 year old James played in 45 games, scoring 6 goals and 10 assists, earning a total of 16 points and 76 penalty minutes. He has been a key player in the club and has played an integral role in their success over the years.
MK Lightning Head Coach Tim Wallace said, “Griff is one of the best overall defenceman in the league. He hits like a truck and plays hard every night. He is a leader and a huge part of our club. I expect big things from him this year and we are lucky to have him in Milton Keynes.”
James said “Although we didn’t achieve the outcome we had hoped for last year, I still believe that our team had the potential to do more. Rather than dwelling on the past, we can use our experiences to strengthen our efforts going forward. I’m excited to continue being a part of the team and strive for a more successful outcome next year. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to reconvene with the team in September.”
Griffin is known for his physicality and speed on the ice, which has earned him the title of Coach’s Player of the Year. His experience, leadership, and dedication to the game make him a valuable asset to the team.
