Milton Keynes Lightning are thrilled to announce the return of forward Toms Rutkis for the 2024/25 season. Known for his high-end speed, playmaking abilities, and goal-scoring prowess and great skating, Rutkis is set to continue his impressive run with the Lightning.

Toms Rutkis, originally from Riga, Latvia, has become a vital part of the Milton Keynes Lightning. Last season, he played 54 games, scoring 23 goals and providing 26 assists, making him one of the top performers on the team. His contribution was pivotal in the team’s success, including their memorable cup victory where he scored a hat trick in the final leg.

Expressing his excitement about rejoining the team, Toms said, “I’m very happy to be back with the Lightning for the upcoming season. I really enjoyed my first season with the club and was amazed by how great the fans were and everyone else in the organisation. I think we played some really good hockey at points during the season and winning the cup was very special. I’m looking forward to building on what we had the past season and hopefully having an even more successful year.”

MK Lightning Head Coach Tim Wallace shared his enthusiasm for Rutkis’ return: “The second half of last season, Toms was one of our best, most consistent players. Toms has high-end speed and can make plays. He scored some massive goals for us last year and I expect that to continue. Toms is a quiet leader who leads through his work ethic. I am excited to see where his game can go next year.”

Rutkis’ return is eagerly anticipated by fans and teammates alike, who can forget his Man of the match photo! His ability to combine speed, skill, and scoring makes him a formidable presence on the ice. His leadership and consistent performance will be crucial as the Lightning aim for even greater success in the upcoming season.
