Leigh Jamieson to Retire

Last weekend we celebrated Leigh Jamieson’s 600th game, and it was wonderful to see him and his family on the ice together receiving the fantastic appreciation from the crowd.  Now as we head into our final home game of the year, Jimba has some news he’d like to share.   I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone involved that made Saturday night so special for my family and I. MK lightning has always been a fantastic club to be a part of and the fact it’s my home town club and I got to celebrate [...]

Teresa Mitchell to step down at the end of the season

We are really sad to let you know that Teresa Mitchell will be stepping down at the end of the season from her role helping on the MKL Ticket Desk.  After a number of years of exceptional support, she is stepping back to allow her to attend MKL games as a spectator and enjoy the games and even see the warmup!  You’ll still find her in her usual plexi spot.   If you’ve ever picked up paper tickets for a match, Teresa will almost certainly have been the lady giving them out to you, and over time she has met [...]

Our final Legends. Dave Bunyan and the Supporters Club

He’d kill us if he knew we were doing this but here goes… He’s a Legend, they’re Legends, they’d never say it themselves but we will.  In our final legend news before tonight’s game we would like to celebrate the contribution of Dave Bunyan, Chairman of the Supporters Club and his fellow Committee members Mary Golson and RIchard Wilmot along with all of the Supporters Club volunteers. The Supporters Club plays a vital role in MK ice hockey, leading the way on fundraising and providing a unique link between fans and club in a way which survives all the ups [...]

Joe steps down as Host of Bench with the Lightning

We are sad to share that our Bench with the Lightning host Joe Raine will be stepping down at the end of the season to allow more time to pursue his career as a tennis coach.   Joe has run the Bench with the Lightning Experience over the past 5 seasons, and has brilliantly hosted over 300 guests on matchnights.  If you don’t know, Bench with the Lightning is our pre-match experience which gives guests an exclusive tour of the locker room as well as spending time on the bench during the warmup.   Participants have given Joe some great [...]

Leigh “Jimba” Jamieson plays 600 Games for MKL

As the end of the season draws near, we celebrate 20 full seasons of MK Lightning hockey on our legend’s night when the AIB Milton Keynes Lightning take on the Leeds Knights.  The game will also mark 600 regular season appearances for Leigh Jamieson. Leigh was a key part of the first Lightning team, after playing for MK Kings as a teenager, and it is fitting that he achieves his 600th appearance on anniversary night.  Leigh’s impressive form in Lightning’s first season saw him attract the attention of Belfast Giants in the Elite League. He would go on to spend [...]

As we continue to celebrate 20 years of MK Lightning hockey, there’s another significant milestone to acknowledge as Lightning’s number 21, Ross Green, will play his 500th league game for MKL. Chelmsford born Ross, affectionately nicknamed Sloth by his teammates, came through the ranks of MK Storm and has played his entire senior hockey career in Milton Keynes, representing both the Lightning and the Thunder.
