Milton Keynes Lightning is thrilled to announce the return of fan-favourite forward Rio Grinell-Parke for the 2025/26 season. Known for his blistering speed and relentless forechecking, Grinell-Parke is set to electrify the ice once again for MK Lightning.
The 26-year-old London native has played over 160 games for Lightning. Grinell-Parkes standout performance included a crucial game-winning goal in the first leg of the National Cup Final against Hull Seahawks in 23/24 which helped propel MKL to a 10–5 aggregate victory and securing the silverware.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Grinell-Parke stated:
“I’m really excited to be returning back to the Lightning for another season. There were no second thoughts or contemplation. Milton Keynes is one of the best atmospheres I’ve gotten to experience playing in, and why would I deny myself the chance to do so again for another season in front of the best fans a club could ask for? I hope to keep doing my best for the team and for the club as a whole, and with the momentous finish to last season, I want another shot at winning some more silverware.”
Head Coach Tim Wallace shared his thoughts on Grinell-Parke’s re-signing:
“Rio brings it every night and does whatever it takes to help the team win. He’s tough to play against and brings a physical edge to our team. He’s one of our top penalty killers and arguably the fastest skater on the team. He battles through injuries and always puts the team first — exactly the kind of character we want in our locker room. He still has an offensive upside in his game, but his grit and speed are key ingredients in helping us win hockey games.”
Grinell-Parke’s return bolsters the Lightning’s roster as they aim for continued success in the National Ice Hockey League. Fans can look forward to more high-octane performances from the dynamic forward as the team sets its sights on new heights in the 2025/26 season.
