We have seen some comments around 2 MKL players self-isolating and we’d like to clarify the situation. These two players circumstances are a separate issue from our reasons for not playing today – those reasons still stand from our post this morning.
No MKL players have symptoms.
The housemate of one of our players has symptoms and the player chose to remain away from the team as soon as that was known. He has not been at the rink, trained nor had any contact with any MKL staff or team. He is not showing any symptoms.
Another player came to the rink and talked with some of the Sheffield and MK players. We then spoke to him and during the conversation it emerged that his fiancee works on a hospital ward with potential exposure to COVID-19 patients. On hearing this we sent him home as a precautionary measure. At that time we didn’t know he’d had any contact with any Sheffield player or his MK teammates. He is not showing any symptoms.
To be clear, the government guidance at present is that people with symptoms are to self-isolate and none of our players or staff has symptoms.
We are sorry for the inconvenience our decision has caused, but believe it has been made in the best interests of protecting our employees and their families.
