MK Lightning are delighted to announce that our game night MC and DJ duo will be back in action for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Mark ‘Bertie’ Canham has been our resident DJ since the first Lightning game back in 2002, and keeps the fans (although possibly not certain referees!) entertained with his mix of tunes.
Peter Sawyer has been our game night MC since taking on the role in 2019 and has made the role his own over the years he has been doing it.
Mark has this to say about his return: “ I’m honoured to be asked to be onboard again to provide our wonderful MKL fan base with the sounds that, I hope, continue to enhance your match night experiences. It’s pretty frantic up there picking those tracks during a game, but it makes my night when I look around to see the fun that you have with the ear noise I send out to you all. You fans are the best in the country so let’s make the 2024/25 season another one to remember, full of passion, humour and total pump for the fantastic MKL.”
Peter echoed Mark’s comments by adding: “I’m so stoked to be asked back for another season on the mic at Lightning and to be working alongside the best DJ and matchnight team in the country! The greatest thrill in hockey is being on the ice as the team emerges and that roar comes from all four sides of the rink and I can’t wait to be a little part of that for another year. We know the best and loudest fans are the MKL fans, home and away you bring the noise so let’s play hockey and let’s go Lightning!”
MKL Director Jon Payne said “We’re delighted that Mark and Peter are back doing what they do best for another season. Having covered both the mic and the DJ booth as an emergency stand-in a couple of times over the last few seasons, I have full respect for what these guys do each night! We’ll be mixing a couple of things up for the new season which will hopefully lead to a smoother experience for the fans and players. We can’t wait for them to be back and provide the fans with the best game night experience in the league.”
