Milton Keynes Lightning are excited to announce the signing of promising young goaltender Ollie Booth for the 2024/25 season. Known for his impressive skills and dedication to the game, Booth is set to join the Lightning, bringing his energy and talent to the team.
Ollie Booth, originally from Nottingham, GBR, has been honing his skills with the Deeside Dragons in the NIHL 1, where he will continue this year too, being announced as signing for them at the same time as this release. At just 17 years old, Booth has already shown significant promise and is eager to take the next step in his career with the Lightning.
Expressing his excitement about joining the team, Ollie said, “I’m incredibly honoured and grateful to Tim and Joe for the opportunity to sign with the Lightning for next season. I’ve worked with Joe for a number of years through my junior career and have always found him a great, supportive coach. After spending some time with the squad last season and dressing a couple of times during Heds’ injury period, I’m incredibly excited to be joining them on a permanent basis. To be working every week with Will and Heds is going to be amazing for my development and I can’t wait to get started.”
MK Lightning Assistant Coach Joe Wilson shared his thoughts on Booth’s signing: “Ollie joined us for a few games and practices last season when Heds was injured. He fitted in really well with the team and the dynamic of the room, so when he said he was looking to make the step to the National League, it made sense to see if he’d consider MK. I’ve worked with Ollie for a number of years at Clarke & Co Hockey Clinics. He’s a great kid with a great attitude towards the game. He works hard and is determined to improve, and working alongside two great goalies like Will and Heds, he’ll come on leaps and bounds. While training with the Lightning, Ollie will remain with Deeside Dragons (NIHL1) side to continue his development and will meet with the team as required. I’m looking forward to seeing Ollie develop further and thrilled he’s chosen MK in the next steps of his journey.”
Booth’s signing is a testament to the Lightning’s commitment to developing young talent and ensuring a strong future for the team. Fans can look forward to seeing Booth’s growth and contributions on the ice as he embarks on this exciting chapter with the Lightning.
