He’d kill us if he knew we were doing this but here goes…
He’s a Legend, they’re Legends, they’d never say it themselves but we will. In our final legend news before tonight’s game we would like to celebrate the contribution of Dave Bunyan, Chairman of the Supporters Club and his fellow Committee members Mary Golson and RIchard Wilmot along with all of the Supporters Club volunteers.
The Supporters Club plays a vital role in MK ice hockey, leading the way on fundraising and providing a unique link between fans and club in a way which survives all the ups and downs of life in a sports team.
Dave and his team of fantastic volunteers run all the matchnight fundraising, including 50/50, Chuck a Duck, Ollie’s Grid and Shirt Off His Back. They also organise a whole season of fun events from the annual Emberton park picnic through to the End of Season Awards. They provide consistent, unwavering support to the club and we couldn’t be more grateful for their help and kindness.
If you asked Dave, he would say it’s a team sport and he’s right, because everyone can see how hard this gang works to raise vital funds for the club. But teams need leaders, and it’s the calm consistency of Dave which makes him a true Legend, ably supported by Mary and Richard.
So we’re revealing one more person who will join us tonight on the red carpet. We’ve left him to the end because he’s been a massive part of organising legends night but even though he’s last, he’s absolutely not least.
Thanks to Richard and Mary, but above all thanks to Dave Bunyan. You’re the heart and soul of MK Lightning and we couldn’t appreciate you any more than we do.
