It’s time to reveal another group of players who are joining Lewis Christie to mark his testimonial on 29th April – some names to really whet your appetite here, if this doesn’t get you rushing to book your tickets in advance we don’t know what will! Sponsored by Acute Ambulance & Medical Services, it promises to be a night not to be missed so save the date!

Stephen Wall

Our Geordie-born netminder wore the black and gold for three seasons from 2012, making an impression from the word go by finishing his first season in MK with the best save percentage in the entire league. Remembered also for the way he often sat on top of the goal during any prolonged stoppages in play, “Wall-y” was back with us just a few weeks ago to celebrate the retirement of Ross Bowers’ jersey.

Jacob Heron

Jacob spent many years working his way up through the MK hockey system, playing for Storm, Thunder and Lightning – helping MKL to win the league in the 2009 season and doing the same for Manchester Phoenix in the 2013 campaign. After several seasons out of the game to concentrate on building a successful business in Manchester and raising his family, he’s now icing again with Widnes Wild in NIHL1, and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in Milton Keynes for Lewy’s big night!

Tim Wallace

Alaska-born Tim has a  hockey CV which speaks for itself. 101 NHL appearances for Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes, 439 AHL appearances 82 ECHL appearances and in Europe, extensive experience in the DEL and SHL, Tim first came to the UK in 2017 to begin his Elite League career for Sheffield Steelers before joining MK Lightning the following year. After a spell as Head Coach with the EIHL Nottingham Panthers, Tim returned to MK last year as our Head Coach, Player and Director of Hockey Development.

Mikey Power

Mikey was signed by Lewis Clifford mid-way through the 2021 season  to drive additional depth and firepower to our forward lines and immediately added a very physical presence to our forward lines.  He learned his hockey in Romford, Slough and Swindon as well as three seasons with the prestigious Okanagan academy. Following three seasons playing in the US he came back to the UK signing for Bees then moving to MK, and is currently icing for the Raiders organisation – back in the town where his senior career began. We know you’ll give Mikey a warm welcome back to MK!

Adam Laishram

Ontario-born Adam signed for MKL in 2021 bringing a wealth of experience from the Canadian junior leagues, bringing “a whole lot of talent and a relentless work ethic”. Although he grew up in Canada, Adam is a British passport holder and jumped at the chance to play hockey on this side of the Atlantic, scoring 38 points in 44 games during his season with us.

Shemy Odrobny

What can we say about Shemy? When we hear ‘Seven Nation Army’ on matchnights many of you still sing the big man’s song! The native of Gdansk, Poland signed for us in 2016 and his save percentage in that season was a mammoth 93% – the best save percentage in the whole league and his presence was undoubtedly a major factor in Lightning scooping both the Playoff and League Cup titles in a season that will live long in the memory!

Mikolaj Lopuski

Mikolaj is another player who has been back to Milton Keynes recently, joining us just last month at a game. Like Shemy he was a key member of the Lightning Playoff and League Cup winning team of 2016-17, and brought to us his extensive experience from playing for his native Poland with over 130 games to his name at junior and senior level.

Michael Wales

Known to most just as “Muzzy”, he is MK through and through – having played not only for Lightning, but also for our predecessors the MK Kings for their final two seasons. Over nine consecutive seasons he became a Lightning legend, as much for his uncompromising style of play as for his sense of humour in the locker room, noted for his gurning in the background of many Man of the Match presentations! Muzzy played just short of 400 games in MKL colours, in the team that won the league cup once, the league title three times and the playoff title four times. We hope you’ll give him a huge welcome back to MK!
