Preview: MK Lightning vs Guildford Flames this Wednesday

Wednesday 15th of November, 7:45pm face-off MK Lightning vs Guildford Flames.

This coming Wednesday at 7:45pm it’s game day at Planet Ice – as the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning host Guildford Flames in a highly anticipated battle of the new boys (15 Nov, face off 7.45pm).

Last Encounter!

It’s been a month since the two sides last faced each other at the Guildford spectrum on the 15th of October, a nail biting challenge cup game that saw MK Lightning take home a 3 – 2 win, earning them a 4 point cup weekend.

The first goal of the game was a surprisingly early one scored at 0.28 by Dunbar giving the Flames an immediate 1 – 0 advantage, and despite the 15 shots on the MKL goal, the 8 shots on the Flames goal and multiple power plays for both teams the score remained the same at the end of the first period.

The score was equalised at 31.16, a power play goal scored by Essery and after 9 shots on the Lightning goal,10 shots on the Flames goal and even more penalties the score at the end of the 2nd period stood at 1 – 1.

MKL took the lead at 43.33 with a goal scored by Hook a score that was later equalised by Dunbar. At the end of the 3rd the score was 2 – 2 forcing overtime. After a nail biting few minutes the game advanced to sudden death penalties and Verault-Paul scored the final winning goal for MK Lightning.

Last Home Encounter

The last time the Flames set foot on Milton Keynes ice, the result also went Lightning’s way with a 3-2 home win for another challenge cup game.

MK Lightning and Guildford Flames have faced each other on the ice 4 times in total so far this season, two challenge games and two cup games and each time MKL have taken home the win. With the season hotting up and every team fighting to progress in the standings every game counts and Wednesday’s game will be no different, it really will be a battle of the new boys, one we cant wait to see the results of.

Number 12, forward Guillaume Doucet comes in a close second with 10 goals and 10 assists over 17 games. Number 78, forward Francis Verreault-Paul currently has the highest penalty minutes sat during league games at 46 minutes.
