It may be only a few weeks into the club’s debut Elite League season, but already the take-up for our range of MKL merchandise has surpassed expectations!

Following the change of club ownership over the summer, the look and logo of the Smith Recycling MK Lightning underwent a complete makeover, changing to a clean, modern theme. The updated branding has been incorporated into every aspect of the organisation, with all supporter merchandise featuring the sharp new logo.

And the Lightning’s management team is thrilled with how well-received the new season merchandise has been.

Head Coach Pete Russell said, “I walk round inside the rink every home match night, and every week I see more and more people supporting our team by wearing merchandise with the new logo – I think it’s fantastic! The guys and girls from the Supporters’ Club who look after it all – from working with designers and suppliers, to selling it all on the merchandise stand, do it all to help the club and deserve a real pat on the back for everything they do.”

Co-Owner Monica Moody commented, “Every penny of the profits on our merchandising and fund raising goes straight back to the club, to help with meeting the costs of running a club. With the step up to the Elite League, those costs have grown. But we are reaping the results on the ice: unbeaten at home so far and an amazing atmosphere – we have probably the most exciting atmosphere at any sporting event in Milton Keynes, bar none!

“The Supporters Club has done an amazing job with the new merchandise and already we’ve added the new Challenge Cup replica jerseys and hoodies, and it’s fantastic seeing so many people wearing MKL merchandise. The relaunch of the website and online shop is very close now so it will be even easier to get your hands on the things you want and show your support for the team. We’re very excited about the future!”

Chairman of the Supporters’ Club, Dave Bunyan, spoke of his satisfaction with how well received the merchandise sales have gone so far: “I’ve been involved with Lightning and the Supporters’ Club for 14 years. During this journey every year it grows – but this season has been phenomenal.

“It’s amazing and the buzz around the club is amazing. Thanks to everyone involved and to the fan base. These are exciting times.”

Watch out for the relaunched website including online shop, coming soon at mk-lightning.co.uk
