Georgs Golovkovs Selected For Latvian National Team Training Camp

The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted that Georgs Golovkovs has been called up by the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation to take part in a training camp next month, ahead of May’s World Championships (10-26 May, Slovakia).

Georgs signed for the Lightning last summer, moving to us from Liepaja in his home country.  He has already played for his country at U18 and U20 levels, but has dressed for just one previous fixture at senior level.

Affectionately known to many MKL supporters as ‘George’, he will miss Lightning’s home fixture against Dundee Stars on Saturday 9 February in order to attend the training camp.  For May’s World Championships, Latvia - like Great Britain - play at the very top level, but in group B (Great Britain will compete in Group A).

We know our supporters will join us in wishing Georgs every success at the camp and he hope to see him earn selection to the full Latvian squad which goes to Slovakia!
