Fast start will put us in good position for points, says Lannon

Lightning will need to be on the front foot when the puck drops tomorrow, to fulfil their aim of two points against the Dundee Stars and another home win, when the Scottish side are the latest opposition for Lightning on Saturday night (Sat 15 Dec, 7pm).

The Smith Recycling-backed side has only one fixture this weekend, and it’s against the team to whom they lost on the road last weekend. Early season struggles including visa challenges, injuries and suspensions mean MKL remain five points below nearest rivals Manchester Storm, Coventry Blaze and Glasgow Clan - all on 23 points. But should Lightning maintain their recent upturn in form and any of those rivals drop points over a busy festive schedule, a move up the table towards playoff qualification could soon gather momentum.

The Lightning have now won four of their last five home games, delighting home fans - but joint Player-Coach Ryan Lannon won’t let the team take anything for granted.

“We expect a fast start from Dundee, and it’ll need a strong effort and a competitive 60 minutes of work for a much needed two points.

“Dundee have been much better of late, and they played with speed and confidence in our game last weekend. We’ll aim to match that and, as always, go for the win.”

Doors open at the Planet Ice Arena on Saturday at 6pm with the game getting underway at 7pm - tickets are on sale right through to face-off: contact the box office on 01908 540020, online at or buy in person at the Arena
