Lightning sponsor Funky Duckling return - to feed the team!

The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning ice hockey club is delighted to confirm the return of Funky Duckling catering, in an agreement that sees them extend and expand upon last season’s sponsorship deal.

The Ridgmont, Bedfordshire based bespoke caterer will continue to back MKL’s popular period break entertainment, “Chuck A Duck”. This long-established competition sees supporters pay to hurl rubber ducks onto the ice pad in an attempt to win prizes, with all proceeds going direct to the club.

New for the 2018-19 — Lightning’s second Elite League season — Funky Duckling will also feed the team! The company is supplying every MK Lightning player with healthy, nutritionally balanced meals ahead of every fixture, home and away. The move will contribute to the players being in peak physical condition whenever they are in action.

As well as supplying the Lightning, Funky Duckling also supplies parties and corporate events—from birthdays, weddings and Christenings to team meetings and business promotions. The people who feed the team could also be feeding you!

Funky Duckling’s owner, Clayton Mills, commented, “Personally, it’s a great privilege to cater for the team, we work hard on designing nutritional foods that feed muscle and help regain energy.

“It’s a great team at MK and we love being a part of the journey!”

Sarah Jane Smyth, Lightning’s Commercial Manager, commented: “We’re delighted that Funky Duckling have returned and their name is on a rinkside board again. For them to be supplying our players with healthy, balanced meals on matchdays means we know the team will be appropriately ‘fuelled’ to optimise their performance. And it’s one less thing for us to worry about - so the team can concentrate fully on the game ahead!”
