Wallace says Lightning relishing Fife challenge

Tim Wallace, Player-Coach for the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning, says taking two points from Sunday’s home game will be a challenge - but it’s one the team is relishing.

Lightning will be away in Dundee on Saturday evening, returning home Sunday afternoon at 5.15pm to play Fife Flyers - who are currently fourth in the EIHL standings and top of the Gardiner Conference.

This is the first visit this season of the Flyers to Milton Keynes and Lightning - under the leadership of Player-Coaches Tim Wallace and Ryan Lannon, will aim to use their current upturn in form to achieve a reverse of the 4-1 loss they suffered in October, on the Flyers’ home ice.

“They’re a very dangerous team,” said Tim Wallace. “They have some of the top scorers in the Elite League right now so we have to find a way to slow down their top line. Sunday’s game will be a big test for us but we’re looking forward to the Challenge.”

Saturday sees MKL make the long journey north to Scotland where they face Dundee Stars - bottom of the Gardiner Conference and just two places above MK in the EIHL standings but, like Lightning, enjoying a resurgence. MKL will be looking break the Stars’ five game winning streak, including taking points from some notable opposition. “We know they’re going into the weekend off the back of big wins against Cardiff and Belfast and they’re playing some good hockey,

“This game will be a big test for us, but we’re looking forward to the challenge!”

The puck drops on Sunday afternoon at 5.15pm at the Planet Ice MK Arena but from 4.30pm fans can try their hand at playing NHL 19 on consoles kindly supplied by Game from centre:mk and there’ll be face painting for younger fans.  The team will contest the game wearing their special ‘Pucky’ jerseys, and there’ll be a range of goodies and clothing on sale all celebrating our furry mascot on Pucky Funday Sunday - check them out at the merchandise stand after you go through the turnstiles but be quick…when it’s gone, it’s gone!

Tickets for the game can be reserved at mk-lightning.co.uk/tickets or by calling 01908 540020 or pay on the door.
