Rihards Grigors released by Lightning

The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning confirm today that defenceman Rihard Grigors has left the team after providing cover for the first part of the season.

Latvian Rihard played for the Edinburgh Capitals previously, and joined the Lightning as short term cover earlier this season whilst the team was short-benched due to injury and visa challenges.

Player-Coach Ryan Lannon thanked Rihard, saying: “He has played his best hockey of the year this last few games. The decision to release him has more to do with logistics than his performance.

“He is a hard working player that was liked and respected  by all his team mates and he’ll be on a shortlist of players to call on as needed over a long season.”

Lightning’s management and the MKL Supporters’ Club would like to thank Rihard for everything he has done for the club, and wish him and his family every happiness for the future.

The Lightning are in home action this Saturday (1 Dec) at 7pm when their opposition are the Manchester Storm. Tickets are on sale right through to face-off from mk-lightning.co.uk/tickets, by calling 01908 540020 or at the Planet Ice MK Arena box office.
