Lightning help launch MK Community Foundation Car Raffle

Continuing their commitment to work with organisations right across the local community, the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning have helped launch the 30th annual MK Community Foundation Car Raffle. Lightning player David Norris accompanied Club mascot Pucky to the official launch in centre:mk on Monday.

A Volkswagen up! GTI 1.0 TSI 115PS 6-Speed manual 3 door in tornado red is the prize on offer, generously donated by Volkswagen Group UK. Local community groups will sell raffle tickets for just £1 with each group retaining 50 per cent of proceeds from tickets they sell. The remainder goes to MK Community Foundation’s grant-making programme, to be distributed to groups locally in the coming year.

Last year’s raffle raised over £21,000 for good causes across Milton Keynes.

Michaela Clark, Philanthropy Manager at Milton Keynes Community Foundation said: “It’s amazing to be celebrating 30 years of the car raffle and it is great to see so many groups coming back, as well some new groups taking part this year. We are so proud to say that all of the funds raised through the car raffle stays in Milton Keynes and benefits our local community.”

Sarah Jane Smyth, MK Lightning Commercial Manager, said the club is delighted to continue its involvement: “We’re privileged to be involved with an organisation like MK Community Foundation which does so much to help local charities. It really is our pleasure to help provide publicity for the car raffle and a high-profile platform with one of our home fixtures to hold the draw at.”

Tickets for the car raffle are on sale for only £1 from the MKCF stand on Midsummer Arcade, close to the outdoor market. Follow MK Community Foundation on twitter @MKComFoundation to find out when your favourite groups are selling tickets at centre:mk.

The lucky winner of the car will be drawn at random on the ice during Lightning’s home fixture against Cardiff Devils on Sunday 17 February at 5.15pm.
