Lightning sign NHL Draft Pick Robbie Baillargeon

The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to have secured the services of highly rated US-born forward, Robbie Baillargeon.  The 6’0” Connecticut native moves from the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers.  He was a fifth-round pick for the Ottawa Senators in the 2012 NHL Draft.

As a junior, Robbie was coached by his father; he progressed through the US High School league moving onto the US’s top junior league, the USHL. Four seasons in the NCAA followed, during his studies at Boston University and Arizona State University.  In his first USHL season he scored 48 points in 54 games, then averaged a point per game in the playoffs.

In Robbie’s single season at Arizona University he was joint top points scorer - but achieved it in four fewer matches than his fellow high-scoring team mate. One of his other team mates that season was current Lightning forward David Norris - who recommended MK Lightning to Robbie as a possible next destination to progress his career.

McKay commented, “Robbie comes very highly recommended.  He has a reputation as relatively quiet but a good guy to have in the locker room - skilled, extremely competitive and determined to succeed.

“I’m happy to be able to give him his first chance in the British game and I’m sure that our fantastic fans will welcome him on board.”

Robbie Baillargeon’s warm up, home and away jerseys are now available on our Own and Loan Scheme –  this scheme sees your name on the back of his jersey for the season.  The match-worn jersey is then presented to you by the player at the end of the 2018-19 season, a unique memento of your favourite player’s performances in the Elite League!  Home or away jerseys cost £250 each, warm up is £150.
