Lightning Sign Young Brit Forward Hounsome

The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning have added young British forward James Hounsome to their roster for the 2018-19 season. James, 19, joins the club from the Boston Junior Rangers in America’s Eastern Hockey League.

Born in Portsmouth, the 6’4”, 212lbs right winger played two seasons with the highly rated Okanagan Hockey Academy in the U.K. He then moved to Canada where he honed his skills with the country’s national hockey academy.

James has also represented Great Britain at U18 level in the 2016-17 World Junior Championships where he played alongside none other than Liam Kirk, recently included in this summer’s NHL draft.

Head Coach Doug McKay commented, “James has trained with the Lightning for a week and I’ve seen enough to know he has promise and is worth investing our time and efforts in.”

James Hounsome will Ice this weekend at Lightning’s away double header in Belfast and the club hopes as many supporters as possible will welcome him at his home debut against the Nottingham Panthers this Sunday at 5.15pm.

James’s home, away and warm up jerseys are now available on our own and Loan scheme which sees your name on the back of the player’s jersey, which is presented to you by them at the end of the season. For prices and to apply email
