Lightning Hope For Short Absence For Mazanec

When the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes play their opening home game of the 2018-19 season tonight (9 Sept) they will do so without Czech defenceman Martin Mazanec.

Martin played for French team Nice last season and in a mid-season fixture was assessed a penalty for checking to the head. Following a communication from the French Ice Hockey Federation about his penalty, Martin will not ice for the Lightning in this weekend’s fixtures against Sheffield Steelers.

The MK Lightning remain in communication with the French Ice Hockey Federation as well as the International Ice Hockey Federation, and hope to have Martin return to action as soon as possible.

Lightning owner Graham Moody said, “We appreciate that our supporters will be extremely disappointed at Martin not being available to ice for us. But we are working hard with everyone involved, to achieve a quick resolution and get him back on the ice again.”

Lightning’s first home game of the season, against Sheffield Steelers, gets underway at 5.15pm on Sunday 9 September at the Planet Ice MK Arena – buy your ticket online from, call 01908 540020 or buy on the door on Sunday.

Come and roar the team on to another victory to get our season off to a loud and proud start!
