Dates for supporters diaries

With the new season less than a month away the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning can confirm two dates that supporters have been keenly anticipating.

If you’ve committed to a season ticket or already purchased a 10-game FlexiTicket can collect them from the Planet Ice MK Arena on Tuesday 21 August. Visit any time between midday and 8pm and make your way to the Tag Taylor Bar to collect your ticket. Head Coach Doug McKay will be around from 6.00-8.00pm and is looking forward to meeting some of the supporters he’s already heard so much about!

Fans who aren’t able to attend on that particular day should email Commercial Manager Sarah Jane Smyth to make alternative arrangements (

On Bank Holiday Monday – 27 August – the club hosts its annual Meet The Players event, also at the Planet Ice MK Arena from 5.00 – 8.00pm. Players will be introduced one by one, and fans will have the chance to ask questions of players and management in an open mic session. Supporters who ordered a new season replica jersey before the cut-off date of 6 August can have it presented to them by a player.

This season’s gathering comes just 48 hours before the Lightning take to the ice in competitive action for the first time; their first pre-season challenge fixture takes place on Wednesday 29 August at the Skydome Arena Coventry, against Coventry Blaze.

Owner Graham Moody said there were lots of reasons to attend:

“We know this is one of the key dates our fans look out for because it gives them a chance to get close to the players – last season it was literally ‘standing room only’ when we got underway, the bar was packed!

“Match tickets will be available from the box office on the day of the event, for our home matches against Blaze and Guildford Flames as well as season tickets, fans will be able to join the Supporters’ Club. The new season already feels very close!”

Tickets are not required for Meet the Players and there is no charge to attend, but supporters are asked to arrive in plenty of time for the start.

Fans will be able to ask questions of Doug McKay and his team in an ‘open mic’ session or can be emailed to
