Lightning to give apprentices top flight experience
Extending their existing involvement in community life, the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning are recruiting for two apprentice positions. The roles, advertised on the MK College website, will hand two young people the opportunity to learn real-world skills with a top flight sports club.
The vacancy for an apprentice Community and Health Officer, would be an ideal opportunity for an energetic, confident individual who will enjoy delivering floor ball-type hockey skills sessions such as ‘beat the goalie’, with an aim to encourage children to get involved in ice hockey. The successful candidate will represent the club regularly, attending school assemblies in and around Milton Keynes as part of our successful Schools’ Enterprise Scheme.
The second opportunity will give another apprentice the chance to develop business administration skills, working closely with Lightning’s off-ice team. The apprentice Office Administrator will be involved in the administration underpinning the success of MKL’s Schools’ Enterprise Scheme, able to add value to all areas of our back office processes. The role also involves answering supporters’ queries, attending networking events and preparing marketing materials.
Lightning’s Commercial Manager, Sarah Jane Smyth, said the club’s management team is excited about increasing their off-ice staff by giving two young people these exciting opportunities.
“The club has grown and grown over the years and as we approach our second campaign in the top flight, we need an increasing amount of work to keep the team competitive and functioning efficiently.
“These two apprenticeships will give two young people a fantastic and valuable insight not just into the world of work but also the workings of a top flight British sports club. We’re really looking forward to meeting some of the people who apply and helping the lucky two to settle in and make a difference!”
