Hot on the heels of his recent testimonial, we are delighted to announce that Adam Carr will return to lead the Milton Keynes Lightning for another season – his thirteenth consecutive term.
After beginning his career in his native north-east, a stellar season at Isle of Wight Raiders brought him to the attention of Nick Poole who signed him in summer 2003 – and ‘Carsy’ has been an integral part of the team ever since. Adam has captained the team for the last four seasons.
Adam said he was looking forward to the 2015-16 season under the leadership of new Head Coach, Pete Russell: “It might be my 13th season with the club but it feels a bit like a new team. With a new coach and what looks like quite a lot of changes to the team, I think there are some really interesting and exciting times ahead.
“After speaking to Pete a couple of times, hearing about the type of team he wants us to be and the way he wants us to play is what I wanted to hear – and something I want to be a part of.
“It’s our goal to win something next year and looking at the team so far we have every chance of doing that.”
Head Coach, Pete Russell, said how pleased he was that Adam was returning: “I’m delighted he’s accepted our offer to move into his thirteenth year in a Lightning jersey. People talk about guys being loyal – well Adam has been that and even more to this organisation.
“He is ‘Mr Consistent’ in his performance and comes to play every night. Adam is going to be a big part of our team on and off the ice. He’s a smart player at both ends of the rink and can play in all situations very well. He is a coach’s dream and is very reliable in every situation.
“I’m extremely excited to be work with Adam this season as I’ve admired him as a player for a long time. He’s a great person and has many qualities. He’ll remain as club Captain and to be honest I couldn’t wish for a better and more honest person to lead our group.”
